Con Ed  (CME) Info

AHA is now able to offer Continuing Education credits through CAPCE (Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education) for EMS professionals. AHA offers CE for the following disciplines:

  • ACLS
  • ACLS EP
  • BLS
  • PALS
  • PEARS

**CAPCE credit must be claimed within 6 months of attendance. CME/CE credit will no longer be available to claim for this activity after six months of attending.

As the class Instructor, you will be able to invite your EMS students to fill out information and claim their credits by sending each student an email invite. You will need their first name, last name and email address to send out this invitation.  (The link to do this is found  on the Instructor Network.)

CME Credits for Physicians

The actual time  spent in an AHA class  can be claimed as Category  2  CME

CME for Physicians Assistants

Per the NCCPA website the following courses carry Category 1 credit for PAs.

ACLS Provider                                  8-18 Hours
ACLS-EP Provider                            9-10 Hours
PALS Provider                                  8-16 Hours

CME for Nurse Practicioners

The  AANP website doe not list the number of hours approved, but states the following classes are accepted (BLS is not accepted for CME)

Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) [not accepted for ENP renewal]
Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO)
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) [not accepted for ENP renewal]
